Background: Ganesha overcomes obstacles and is a favorite god among the Balinese. He is the son of Siwa, the God of Creation and Destruction, and Parvati. His trunk symbolizes knowledge.

Shortly after conception, the gods went to visit Siwa and Parvati, taking with them a great elephant. Parvati was terrified at seeing the huge beast. The image became so imprinted in her mind, that she gave birth to the elephant-headed Ganesha.

This 5-foot-high Ganesha is currently in the Lounge Bar at Murni's Warung. It took 5 years to make.
