Wayang Kancil are shadow puppet performances based on animal stories. They were prohibited by the Dutch in the 1920's to avoid any meetings that could oppose Dutch rule. It was revived in the 1980s and there are now performances in theatres and schools.

The puppets are made of leather. The stem is wood. Some parts move. The height measurement includes the length of the rod.
