Woodcarvings

These courtly Loro Blonyo figures are fertility symbols. Dewi Sri is the goddess of rice and Dewa Sadono is her consort. They are placed in front of the ritual marriage bed in Javanese interiors.

The man has a carved kris tied by a carved sash on his back. Both are wearing batik sarongs with a parang pattern. The arms and elbows move. She has glass earrings.
