Chinese kepeng coins were circulating in Bali in the 7th and 8th centuries. They are sold in stringed bundles of 200, about 12 cm across. Both sides are inscribed. One side has Chinese characters. They have not been used officially as money in Bali since the early 1900s.

Rice barns in Bali are called lumbungs and are built are built on four poles, usually between 1½ metre and 2 metres up from ground level to store rice and avoid rodents and insects.

The upper storage area has an omega shape created by bending flexible framing of bamboo to support the roof.
