Antique set of belt buckles for ceremonial dress, with dense floral motifs, set with hand-cut faceted clear stones. The stones are likely to be low grade Borneo diamonds.

These buckles were worn in the 19th century kratons (courts) of central Java, particularly at Yogyakarta and Surakarta (Solo).

They were formal court dress for male courtiers and nobles,  worn on the waist on a velvet belt over an embroidered black velvet jacket and a sarong with patterns exclusively reserved for aristocrats.

These buckles are still worn on formal occasions.
