Kisar is a very small island in South Moluccas, just off the north east tip of Timor. Women produce fine textiles for their own everyday and ceremonial use. Kisar weavers are among the most skilled. 

In Kisar there is a preference for red and rust brown as the dominant colours, complemented by black and dark blue. Geometric designs are rigidly created on many Kisar cloths. They are said to have been brought from Timor.
