Murni’s Houses Garden
Wander round Murni’s Houses Garden and enjoy Murni’s collection of stone carvings by Wayan Cemul, one of Bali’s most famous sculptors.
Born in 1927, he was Murni’s father’s cousin. Cemul produced non-conventional statues that were quintessentially Balinese in character and full of comic playfulness.
Terracotta carvings.
Murnis Houses Garden also has a number of stonecarvings from other islands in Indonesia, for example, Sumba, which is famous for them.
There are also a large number of Buddha statues in various positions. Always look for the expression as you admire them.
Orchids.
There are many tropical flowers, especially orchids.
Panels.
Many of the walls are covered with individually carved limestone panels. This is a traditional Balinese open market scene.
Needless to say it’s a photographers’ paradise.
