Silversmiths employed by royalty or a patron were anonymous and did not sign their work. Their training took a long time.
It was usual for men to carry a large kerchief over their shoulders that was folded into a bag. The kerchief was weighed down with large beads. The long bead was called boh pinang muda. The round facetted bead was called boh entoee.
