Background: Semar, one of the clowns, is deeply loved by the audience. A gentle, humble servant, but at the same time the most powerful of Gods and immortal. The rules of Satriya behaviour did not apply to him, so he could clown and comment, but he was also wise. Very fat, with heavy breasts and a vast backside, he wore female jewelry, but dressed like a man. Yet his face was neither a man’s nor a woman’s.
