Kresna 1
Height 71 cm, width 25 cm
Order Number: SPC69
Background: Kresna was a Satriya. He and his brother Baladewo were first cousins to the Pandawa brothers on their mother’s, Kunti’s, side. Part God, he was an incarnation of Wisnu. Bright, an orator, politician and war strategist, he made the Pandawa’s victory possible. He was also cunning, a liar, cynical and inflexible. Yet he won approval as he was carrying out the will of the Gods.
Kresna’s sister, Dewi Sumbadra, was Arjuna’s second wife and also Arjuna’s first cousin.
Before the last war, the Pandawa sent Kresna to settle the long enmity. When he went to rest, Dursasono led the palace guard against him. Enraged he assumed his most terrible form, with a thousand heads and ten thousand arms and legs and his thunderous voice broke the foundations of the palace. The gods warned Kresna that he was forbidden to shed Kurawa blood, so he left and reported to the Pandawa, who decided to go to war.
Always black, he is wearing the praba, the wing-shaped backpiece, a kingly symbol, crown and gelang kroncong, upper arm bracelets.
